Of the British Empire resources, Trinidad is tenth on the list with a production of 10 million barrels. In 1932 the production of Venezuela still further decreased, Russia again taking second place to the United States, the total output of which was 781 million barrels, or about 60 per cent of the world's total. For example, in 1930 the second largest producer was Venezuela, while in 1931 Russia came second on the list, the United States taking as hitherto prior place. The analysis of production by countries is interesting. During this year the total amount produced was 1,305 million barrels, representing a decrease of nearly 67 million barrels, or 5 per cent, of the total recorded for the previous year. In 2018, the federal government purchased the Kinder Morgan (NYSE: KMI) Trans Mountain pipeline for C$4.5 billion to ensure Canadian crude reaches market ports. Energy exports to the US account for the vast majority of Canada’s total energy exports. Nearly all of Canada’s proven oil reserves are located in Alberta, and according to the province’s government, 97 percent of oil reserves there are in the form of oil sands. The country’s annual oil production rose to 5,694,000 bpd in 2022, up from 2021’s output amount of 5,537,000 bpd. Next on this list of the top 10 oil-producing countries is Canada. However, it seems that in 2023 Russia's oil exports have rebounded to pre-war levels with heavy demand from China and India. ![]() “The implications of a potential loss of Russian oil exports to global markets cannot be understated,” the IEA stated. In March 2022, the International Energy Agency (IEA) warned that Russia could be forced to cut 30 percent of its crude oil production, resulting in a serious global oil supply crisis. In response to Russia’s war in Ukraine, Canada, the US, the UK and Australia have banned imports of Russian oil, representing about 13 percent of Russia’s exports. Most of Russia’s reserves are located in West Siberia, between the Ural Mountains and the Central Siberian Plateau, as well as in the Urals-Volga region, extending into the Caspian Sea.Īs the third largest oil-producing nation, Russia accounts for 10 percent of global output. Prior to production cuts in 2020, Russian oil output had spent a number of years rising it came in at 10,938,000 bpd in 2022. Statistics are from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) and include total production of petroleum and other liquids. Read on for a look at the top 10 oil-producing countries in 2022, the most current data at time of publication. Given these and other recent market events, many investors are curious to know which countries produce the most oil. ![]() However, these supply concerns have been eclipsed by slowing demand forecasts for China, and the potential for Venezuelan oil production to move back into the market. More recently, the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war has oil market watchers looking for indications that the conflict may spread into the oil producing nations in the Middle East. ![]() In June, OPEC members reached an agreement to significantly cut oil output in July and to extend a broader deal to limit supply into 2024. However, slowing economic activity brought on by rising interest rates and recession fears have weighed on oil prices in 2023. Oil demand returned in 2021 as COVID-19 lockdowns eased worldwide, pushing prices higher once Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine set in the following year, oil skyrocketed. ![]() Even better? Available in a variety of colors with a matte finish. ![]() The entire set comes complete with the mixer motor base, a 7.4-quart stainless steel bowl, a 4-quart BPA-free whipping bowl, a dough roller, dough scraper, dough hook, proofing lid, spatula, double beater/whisks and cake beater whisks, as well as a starter guide and recipe book. Not making dough? Simply swap the stainless bowl for the included BPA-free 4-quart beater bowl (does not spin, comes with attached drive shaft) to mix, whisk and combine batters, cream butter and sugar, whip cream and frosting and more. That’s why it can easily accommodate heavier doughs (up to 11 pounds) and even has motor feedback to help regulate speed on its own. The spinning bowl results in more mixing power without overexerting the quiet, spiral gear shaft motor. No more stopping and starting your mixer to scrape the sides of the bowl your beater can’t reach. The Ankarsrum has a stainless steel bowl that spins, while the blade, beaters and other attachments stay in place. Normal mixers have a bowl that doesn’t move and beaters that do move. But thanks to a bit of Swedish ingenuity, Ankarsrum has come up with a one-of-a-kind design that maximizes capability and stands up to hefty quantities of dough. Thanks Nick, the oranges are lovely and sweet and very juicy.Stand mixers are one of the most versatile tools in the kitchen, yet most are clunky, inefficient and can’t handle larger portions of dough without rocking on the counter or speeding down substantially. Why I love this edible silly putty recipe: We’ve made plenty of awesome slime recipes with contact lens solution and liquid starch as the activator, with no adverse effects. If you see contact lens solution, laundry detergent, or liquid starch listed in the ingredients of a slime recipe - those are not truly borax-free slime recipes. Many so-called “borax-free slime recipes” on the internet actually contain a form of boric acid - which is essentially the same thing. The good news is that you can make an amazing slime recipe without borax! Actually we’ve made a LOT of homemade slime without borax! Like this one! FYI…īorax free slime does not necessarily mean the same thing as non-toxic slime. However, like I mentioned above, it may not be the best choice for young children or those with sensitive skin. Not only is this easy silly putty recipe non-toxic…it’s edible! Actually, it tastes pretty yummy! Not that I recommend eating the whole batch, but if your kids lick their fingers it’s all good.īorax is one of the most common slime activators – it causes a chemical reaction when combined with glue that results in streeeetttcchhyy particles and slime! It was such a smash hit with other parents of young kids that we kept experimenting with other edible slime recipes - pudding slime, chocolate slime, and even edible glow in the dark slime! We even tried edible pizza slime – and that got a LOT of comments, both good and bad! But we thought it was super fun! In 2017 when we originally published this recipe, there was nothing like it on the internet, and I’ve still never found a better Jello slime recipe! Except we added JELLO - which gives our slime fruity flavor and causes it to change color when you mix it! That led me to create our first edible slime recipe (this one!!), which was a fun spin on the oobleck I played with as a child. Indeed, being overly creative at the expense of true mathematical skill may in fact impede one’s progress on a mathematical research problem, due to all the time wasted on the ninety-eight hopeless avenues. For instance, a very creative person may have a hundred innovative ways to attack a mathematical problem, but what one really needs is the rigorous thinking, comparison with existing literature, intuition and experience, and knowledge of heuristics in order to winnow these hundred ways down to the two that actually have a non-zero chance of working. More generally, the skills and traits that are popularly associated with “intelligence” or “genius” become largely decoupled, after a certain point, to those that are needed to do good mathematics. In professional mathematics, at least, we don’t brag about our IQs, put them in our cv’s, or try to find out other mathematician’s IQ when trying to evaluate them it has about as much relevance in our profession as the Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator. See Professor Tao’s response here to being named the Global Australian of the Year 2022 and photos from the presentation ceremony held in Los Angeles at the residence of the Consul-General to Los Angeles, Ambassador Jane Duke, in April 2023.It is strange that IQ has such a hold over the popular imagination, because as far as I can tell it plays no role in academia whatsoever. In January 2022, he teamed up with global learning platform MasterClass to launch their first series on mathematical thinking, in which he shares his approach to mathematical inquiry and shows viewers how they can apply maths in everyday situations, offering suggestions for enjoying the process of learning. Today, Prof Tao focuses much of his energies on developing the next generation of mathematicians, both in his classes at UCLA and also through his engagement with the broader public. He has worked with many of the world’s other leading mathematicians and physicists to solve problems collectively, resulting in some of the greatest mathematical discoveries in areas of mathematical and scientific theory that had remained impossible to solve for centuries. Prof Tao remains the youngest winner of each of the three medals in the Olympiad’s history, having won the gold medal at the age of 13 in 1988.īucking the Hollywood stereotype of a singular mathematical genius operating alone, Prof Tao is admired for his eagerness to collaborate and for the outcomes achieved as a result of his efforts to combine ideas and build connections across fields. At age nine, he was already attending university-level mathematics courses, and at the age of ten he was the youngest person ever to compete at the International Mathematical Olympiad, where he won bronze, silver, and then gold over three consecutive years. ![]() Prof Tao’s mathematical abilities emerged at a very young age, with his parents observing his interest in numbers and ability to count and read by the age of two. ![]() He has been the author or co-author of over 350 research papers and 18 books, and continues to attract top students from all over the world, eager to study with him at UCLA.
